Conversation
Lyndhurst Drive is an unused plot of land that is situated on the corner of Leigh Road and James Lane in the Borough of Waltham Forest. The project is the result of a joint venture between REMI.C.T Studio and Kit London.
This proposal seeks to negotiate with the landscape of the site to create a contemporary yet contextual building that blends in with its surroundings. The design is intended to contribute to the future ethos of Leytonstone and its community; encouraging quality design and finish.
The proposal comprises of 6 mixed apartment types of varying sizes across three floors. Each apartment has been designed to be contemporary and spacious to support future families in Leytonstone.
Studio Approach
The addition of specialist finish concrete evokes the feeling of urban agriculture and promotes sustainable living with an emphasis on farm to table living. By integrating kitchens and allotment gardens, the design enhances the site's natural biodiversity.
The scheme recognises the constraints of the site’s orientation and angle, and responds to this by combining a beautiful range of family living spaces with clever forms of navigation through the building that celebrates its corner aspect and close proximity to a family park.
