This sculpture’s behaviour and essence act as a powerful local beacon to the community of Londoners and tourists that circulate Tooley Street throughout the day.
The diffused ribbed form is shaped by the triangular layout of the area, reacting to the context of the site whilst being moulded by the importance of attracting more visitors to Tooley Street. The delicate and transparent nature of the pavilion blends itself suitably into the local landscape allowing it to converse and effortlessly interact with the surrounding diverse structures.
The chosen materials applied to the sculpture create a compelling sensory experience, with the ribs being composed of matt black steel on the exterior envelope and mirrored finish on the interior, allowing a light interaction period, as well as a dramatic and theatrical moment.
