The GLC’s proposed plan to reinvent London in the 1960s could have changed the Covent Garden landscape in a drastic way by destroying two-thirds of the area. The proposed plan was to completely enclose the famous Piazza. Some would say Inigo Jones’ new and exciting design transformed Covent Garden into the birthplace of modern town planning in London.
